I contacted BAB several months before deployment to see if they would be willing to send care packages. We were given dozens of customized boxes before leaving–items we requested and items we did not know we wanted or needed. The boxes were stuffed with Mountain Houses, condiments, hand warmers, trail mix, GU, beef jerky, wipes, pots, pans, and (most importantly) scented candles.  Candles may seem like a luxury, but they hold their value as deployment wears on. The candles made by BAB became the object of extreme betting by the end of our time overseas.
